The Cave Management Team has implemented a safe access program to prevent the demise of the Nutty Putty and Blowhole caves. Help us in our goal of having every visiting group adequately equipped and prepared.
NUTTY PUTTY CAVE IS OPEN
The Nutty Putty Cave is open.  To gain access just visit our TRIP PLANNER page. The new online reservation and access system is working well and you can reserve your access time up to 5 months before your trip.
CAN THE NUTTY PUTTY CAVE BE SAVED LONG TERM?

We feel strongly that the latest cave management plan is a good plan and it will save the cave from permanent closure. It will require the general public to adopt the safe caving practices prescribed in the plan. This means they need to wear helmets & headlamps, and follow the rules of the cave. Failure to do so will mean failure of the plan and permanent closure of the cave.

For those interested in the past closure and the installation of the gate, you will enjoy the online presentation put together by Jon Jasper in 2006. The 14 minute presentation gives a history of the events leading to the previous closure of the cave.
