NUTTY PUTTY CAVE
KSL NIGHTSIDE RADIO INTERVIEW

Nightside

DECEMBER 3, 2009 - The cave was officially capped-off today and popular nighttime radio hosts Alex Kirry and Ethan Millard wanted to dedicate the primetime 7 to 8 PM hour to the Nutty Putty Cave. Here are 3 ways to listen to the interview:

  • 1) KSL PODCAST - Click on the link and download hour one of the program. This link includes everything broadcast over the air for that first hour.
  • 2) CROPPED HIGH QUALITY - This is a 32 mb cropped version which includes the shorter and more concise no commercial interview.
  • 3) CROPPED LOW QUALITY - This is a 16 mb cropped version saved at a lower 64 bps rate.

NightsideI must admit that I really enjoyed going up to the studio to participate in the interview. Live radio allows you the ability to just discuss the issues and answer the questions. Both Alex and Ethan were very enjoyable and they had done quite a bit of research in preparation for the hour.

It was interesting because they scheduled me for their first segment only, not knowing what they were going to get from me as a guest. They originally thought that we would talk about the reservation process and the types of people that liked to visit the cave. They were very surprised that I was able to answer questions about any and all portions of the cave’s history, the rescue, and the closure of the cave. “Finally we can ask the questions that everybody is thinking that nobody seems to want to answer,” Alex shared during a break.

The original 8-9 minute segment turned into the full prime time hour of the show. I hope that you enjoy listening to it, and although not comprehensive of all aspects of the cave’s closure, it is a good starter for further discussion. I hope that you enjoy it and will follow it up with an email to me with other questions that you feel still need to be answered. If I don’t know the answer, then I will find the person that does.

HUMOROUS SIDE NOTE: One of the pleasures of the evening was taking my wife Shelly along and into the KSL studios for the interview. After 20 years of marriage we think a lot alike and she often finishes my sentences. I think this was the first time that I have been able to have a discussion with somebody about the cave entrapment in her presence where she couldn’t interrupt me and I could finally finish my thoughts. Shelly literally had to sit there with her hand covering her mouth, but if you listen carefully you can still hear her in the background.
